SERVICES Emergency Medical Services Emergency response team removing a fallen tree from a road in King and Queen County
King and Queen County Emergency Services is responsible for the provision of Emergency Medical Services to King and Queen County as the county’s licensed EMS agency by the Virginia Department of Health.

Historically, EMS in King and Queen County was provided by volunteer rescue squads. Due to increasing administrative demands and declines in volunteerism, our agencies have elected to operate under and as part of the County’s EMS license. Each volunteer agency remains and established nonprofit organization for the purposes of fundraising and membership benefits, however, all emergency response operations transitioned to the County as a combined team effective November 1, 2024. Qualified and affiliated EMS volunteers continue to provide services as drivers and EMTs to the community in this manner.
