Our Roots, Our Story
May 16, 2026 – King and Queen Courthouse
Join King and Queen County for a special VA250 commemorative event celebrating the people, traditions and stories that shaped our community. On Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the King and Queen Courthouse, residents and visitors are invited to step back in time for a family-friendly experience that brings local history to life. See the VA250 Mobile Museum
A highlight of the day will be the VA250 Mobile Museum, an immersive, traveling exhibit that explores Virginia’s pivotal role in the American Revolution.





Enjoy Activities and Treats for All Ages
Plus, throughout the event, guests can enjoy:
- Live music performances by local churches and school choirs
- Historical reenactors and colonial-style trade demonstrations
- Exhibits from community organizations including the Rappahannock Tribe, Arts Alive, Upper King & Queen Ruritan Club and Friends of the Library
- Tours of the historic Tavern Museum
- Giveaways and interactive activities for all ages
A variety of local food vendors will also be on site with offerings available for purchase, including Swirled Soda Bar, Sno-To-Go, Paulette’s Plates, Hungry Hungry Arrow and the Battered Badger.
